Rated course venues
A substantial national baseline for traditional on-course golf.
FACILITY INTELLIGENCE
SPORTS FACILITY AUDITOR · GOLF
Golf Australia already holds a national facility database. Connecting SFA with rounds, membership, programs, community benefits and sustainability data turns that database into a decision-making system.
NATIONAL DATA FOUNDATION
golf venues located and classified
43% of question records currently hold a response—enough to demonstrate value, with a clear case for focused renewal.
WHAT SFA ALREADY HOLDS
SFA is more than a venue list. It combines location, facility type, ownership, tenure, access, buildings, course configuration, supporting amenities and selected condition and sustainability information.
A substantial national baseline for traditional on-course golf.
Standalone outdoor hitting facilities and alternative entry points.
Indoor and technology-led formats attracting new audiences.
Accessible social and family formats within the national network.
STATE-BY-STATE PROFILE
Select a state to compare its recorded venue mix. Venue types can overlap; percentages show the share of all SFA venues in each jurisdiction.

The national inventory captures traditional courses alongside fast-growing alternative formats, creating a foundation for integrated supply-and-demand analysis.

Assumption reference: The SFA export contains 1,885 venue records. Operational status is not populated in the supplied national export, so the number of currently operational venues requires reconciliation against Golf Australia’s venue master data.
THE STRATEGIC OPPORTUNITY
Golf Australia has strong information about people and play. SFA connects that evidence to the facilities where participation happens.
Where participation and rounds are growing.
Whether venues can sustain that growth.
Which interventions will deliver the greatest benefit.
Evidence for councils, governments and partners.
FUTURE INITIATIVES
Each initiative uses the existing SFA venue identifier as the common reference point, reducing repeated data collection and turning separate datasets into practical decisions.
Link GolfLink rounds to holes, course configuration and supporting infrastructure to identify pressure, spare capacity and emerging constraints.

Switch between primary venue type and audit completion, filter by state or facility type, and select a venue for its details. The established ArcGIS dashboard remains available for the existing operational view.
Open existing ArcGIS dashboard ↗Map locations are drawn from the 1,880 venue records with valid Australian latitude and longitude values in the supplied SFA export. Audit completion is calculated as the share of exported question records with a recorded response for each venue. The completion layer highlights venues above 80% in green and below 20% in red. Primary venue type is derived from the recorded facility mix, prioritising rated courses, pitch and putt / par 3 and unrated courses before standalone ranges, simulators and mini golf. Five venue records require coordinate validation. OpenStreetMap provides the basemap.
A PRACTICAL NEXT STEP FOR SFA-GOLF
SFA-Golf does not require Golf Australia to re-audit every venue. It can become a continuously refreshed national facility database: automation completes stable desktop fields, venues verify what is uncertain, and targeted audits focus effort where physical assessment is genuinely required.
Reconcile the national venue register once, then connect and refresh information against the same venue record.
AUTOMATED ANNUAL ENRICHMENT
Refresh location, demographics, facility websites, course and venue operational information.
Automation does the repeatable workVENUE VERIFICATION
Send short, pre-filled forms for fields that are uncertain, missing or appear to have changed.
Venues verify exceptions, not entire auditsTARGETED AUDITS
Reserve physical audits for priority venues, major projects, accessibility, condition and complex ownership matters.
Specialists assess the highest-value gapsRECOMMENDED PILOT
Select a mix of states, facility types, ownership models and data-completeness levels. Run each record through the three tiers, connect priority Golf Australia datasets and demonstrate the decisions SFA-Golf can support.
